At DBT-UK, we’re excited to announce the launch of our next online DBT skills group. It begins on Tuesday 29 July at 7pm and takes place on Zoom. This group is open to adults across the UK who want to learn practical tools to manage emotions and improve relationships.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply curious about DBT, this is a supportive and structured way to build life-changing skills.

What Is DBT?

DBT stands for Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. It was developed for people who struggle with intense emotions and behaviours. Over time, it has been adapted to help many others – including those living with anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship difficulties.

The core idea behind DBT is balancing acceptance with change. You’ll learn to understand and accept your emotions while developing tools to respond in new, more effective ways.

DBT focuses on four key skill areas:

  • Mindfulness – Being present in the moment

  • Distress Tolerance – Getting through tough situations without making things worse

  • Emotion Regulation – Managing emotions before they take over

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness – Setting boundaries and improving communication

These skills are taught in a clear, step-by-step format – and they’re useful for anyone, not just those in crisis.

What Happens in the Group?

The group meets once a week for 90 minutes over Zoom. Each session is led by qualified DBT therapists. You’ll learn new skills, reflect on how they apply to your life, and practise them between sessions.

You don’t need to share personal details unless you want to. Instead, the group is structured like a class. You’ll learn, practise, and build confidence in using the tools.

Because everyone attends regularly, the group becomes a safe and consistent space. You’ll work through the DBT modules together, one skill at a time.

Who Can Join?

This group is for adults aged 18 and over. You don’t need a diagnosis or referral. Many people join because they:

  • Struggling with self-harm or suicidal ideation

  • Feel emotionally overwhelmed or shut down

  • Want help managing anxiety, low mood, or stress

  • Struggle with boundaries or people-pleasing

  • Have difficulty coping with conflict or rejection

  • Are looking for structured emotional skills that work

If that sounds like you, you’re welcome to apply.

Before joining, we’ll arrange a short call with one of our team. This helps us make sure the group is the right fit for your needs.

Why Online?

We know it can be hard to fit support into a busy life. That’s why we offer DBT groups online. You can join from home – or anywhere with a stable internet connection.

Online sessions give you the flexibility to attend regularly. Some people also feel more at ease joining from their own space.

All you need is a quiet room, a phone or computer, and Zoom.
